Marilyn earned her B.S. in Integrated Language Arts from Bowling Green State University and M.S. in English Education from Buffalo State College before pursuing her Ph.D. in Learning & Instruction from the University at Buffalo.  

Her research interests include arts integration with a focus on culture & social justice.

Marilyn taught grades 6-12 for 12 years before moving to higher education.

At Buffalo State, she teaches courses in poetry, advanced composition, the short story, British literature, film & literature, & education.

In addition, she's advisor to Buffalo State's student poetry society The Ink Club.
