Sigma Tau Delta
Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor Society, is open to high achieving students majoring in English, English Education, and Writing. The Alpha Pi Chi chapter at Buffalo State was founded in 2009, and offers students opportunities for social and academic programming, service, and fundraising.
The activities are decided by students in the chapter, and any student majoring in any area of the department is welcome to join in chapter activities and events.

- Food drives and clothing drives benefiting Buffalo charities

Eligibility for Induction
To be considered eligible for induction, students must:
- Maintain an excellent GPA (both overall and in the major)
- Engage in programming, fundraising, and service
- Pay modest chapter dues
Membership/Induction Benefits
- Lifetime membership in Sigma Tau Delta (students may join an alumni chapter upon graduation)
- Access to national publications The Sigma Tau Delta Review and Sigma Tau Delta: The Rectangle (inducted members may also submit to these publications)
- Access to scholarships
- Access to the national conference
- The right to wear honor cords at graduation
